Lōkahi tiered services navigation guide

In this navigation guide, we walk you through the entire mobile app experience for creating tiered services. If you have a specific question, browse the frequently asked questions or use the search box and enter a question or topic.

Log in to the app

To log in to the mobile app:

  1. Using your mobile device, open an internet browser, such as Safari or Chrome.
  2. Enter the following web address: sbbh.ecsssonline.k12.hi.us
  3. Enter your eCSSS username and password, then select Log in.

If you need to change your username or password, please contact the DOE help desk.

Add a shortcut to the app on your mobile device

To save time, you can add a shortcut on your mobile device so that you don’t have to enter the web address every time you need to log in.

For iPhones and other iOS mobile devices

To save time, you can add a shortcut on your mobile device so that you don’t have to enter the web address every time you need to log in.

  1. Open an internet browser, such as Safari or Chrome, and go to sbbh.ecsssonline.k12.hi.us
  2. Select the share icon Share button on iOS devices , then select Add to Home Screen.
  3. On the Add to Home Screen window, select Add.
  1. Go to your home screen to view and move the shortcut icon.

For Android devices

  1. Open an internet browser, such as Chrome, and go to sbbh.ecsssonline.k12.hi.us.
  2. Select the ellipses , then select Add to Home screen.
  3. On the Add to Home screen window, enter a title for the shortcut (optional), then select Add.
  1. Either select and hold the icon to manually place the shortcut on your Home screen or select Add Automatically.

Change your user preferences

In User Preferences, you can:

  • Turn tooltips on and off. Tooltips appear when you select or hover over certain fields, and they provide helpful hints to complete those fields. Note that tooltips may not appear on some mobile devices.
  • Set your default view on login. Note that you may only have one option depending on your role as a provider or scheduler.

To change your user preferences:

  1. Select the User Menu, then User Preferences.
  1. Select the toggle switch to turn a user preference on or off.

Create a tiered service

If the Tiered Services dashboard is not displayed upon login, use the hamburger menu to open the side navigation menu, and select Tiered Services.

To create a tiered service, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Tiered Services dashboard and select +Add Tiered Service.
  1. In the Select Provider window, your name and job position are displayed by default. For admin users, start typing the name of the provider, then choose the correct provider from the list, then Next.
  1. In the Add Students window, enter a student’s First Name and/or Last Name, then select Search. The Search button becomes enabled when First Name or Last Name is entered.
  1. Select Filter to filter results by School or to include inactive students, then Apply. Select Reset to clear filters.
  1. From the student results list, select the + next to each student to add to Selected Student(s). This field is displayed upon selecting the first student. When finished, select Create Tiered Service.

  1. The Add Tiered Service window is displayed.
  • In the header, view the # of Students Remaining and name of the Next Student. Select Add/Remove Students to modify the list of selected students.
  1. Student demographic information is displayed in the purple section.
  2. Your name and job position are displayed as the Provider. This field is not editable. You may optionally add an Alternate Provider to allow another provider edit access to your student’s tiered service. Start typing and select from a list of providers.

  1. Complete the tiered service details.
    • Select a Start Date and Projected End Date.
    • Select the Tier level.
    • Enter the tiered service Frequency. The number of minutes and interval are required.
    • Select a Target and Practice Element. These fields are treated as a set and both are required for each set.
      • Select a Target and Practice Element from the drop-down lists, or start typing to filter the list, then select. When ‘Other’ is selected as the Target or Practice Element, you will also be required to enter Other Target Description or Other Practice Description.
      • Select + Add Target to add a maximum of 5 sets.
      • Select the Trash icon to remove a set.
    • Add Notes/Analysis, if applicable.
  2. Next, Submit, and Submit & Clone buttons are disabled by default. These buttons are enabled upon completing all required fields on the screen. Required fields are marked with an asterisk *.
    • Next is displayed only when creating Tiered Services for more than one student and there are students remaining in queue.
      • Select Next to add the current student to the Ready to Submit list and proceed to the next student.
    • Submit is enabled when there are no students remaining and all required fields have been completed.
      • Select Submit to submit the tiered service(s) and view the Submission History screen.
    • Submit & Clone is displayed and enabled when creating a tiered service for a single student and all required fields have been completed. This option is not available when creating Tiered Services for multiple students.
      • Select Submit & Clone to save the current tiered service and create a copy. The copy simplifies data entry for a similar tiered service for the student. You can modify the copied tiered service before submitting.
  3. Select Ready to Submit at the top of the screen to view completed tiered services that are pending submission. This option is displayed upon selecting Next when adding tiered services for more than one student.
  4. Select Cancel at any time to close a tiered service without saving. If you are creating tiered services for more than one student, you’ll be presented with these options:
    • Cancel this student and remaining students: Select this to cancel the current student and any students remaining and submit tiered services for Ready to Submit student(s).
    • Cancel all, including Ready to Submit: Select this to cancel tiered services for all students. No tiered services will be submitted.
  5. Upon selecting Submit, a summary of tiered services will be displayed on the Submission History screen.

Search for a tiered service

To help with continuity of supports, you may view all tiered services for any student you have access to, including other providers’ tiered services. However, editing a tiered service is limited to the Provider or Alternate Provider on a tiered service.

To search for an existing tiered service, follow these steps:

  1. From the Tiered Services dashboard, select Retrieve Tiered Services to see all your active tiered services or use the filters to narrow your search by student, school, or grade. Select Include Inactive Tiered Services to include tiered services that have been ended in your search results. At least one filter must be selected to enable the Retrieve Tiered Services button.

    Note that the Find Provider field is limited to the provider currently logged in. Admin users may filter by the providers they have access to.
  2. To view a longer search results list, select the Items per page drop-down list. Select 10, 25, 50, or 100 to designate the maximum number of records displayed per page. Use the arrows at the bottom of the window to access the previous or next page.
  1. Select a record to view the tiered services details.

Edit a tiered service

Tiered services can only be edited by the Provider or Alternate Provider. Therefore, if you don’t have edit access to a tiered service, the Edit, Clone, Mark as done, and Delete icons are not shown. However, you can still select a record to display a read-only summary of the student’s tiered service.

To edit an existing tiered service, follow these steps:

  1. Search for the student or tiered service you want to change (refer to Search for a tiered service for instructions).
  2. Select the Edit icon to open the Reason for Editing window. On mobile devices, select the ellipses to view the action icons. Enter a brief explanation, then select Next to open the Edit Tiered Services window.
  1. Edit the fields as needed, then select Submit. Note that all changes are tracked and timestamped.

If you notice any error in student information, please advise the student’s school administration of the error.

End a tiered service

To end a tiered service, follow these steps:

  1. Search for the student or tiered service you want to end (refer to Search for a tiered service for instructions).
  2. Select the Mark as Done icon to open the Edit Tiered Service window. The End Date and Outcome fields are required. You may also enter Notes/Analysis. All other fields are not editable.
  1. Select Submit.
  2. To search for tiered service that has been ended, select Include Inactive Tiered Services on the Search Tiered Services screen.

Delete a tiered service

If you enter a tiered service by mistake, you can delete it by searching for the tiered service and selecting the Delete icon. The Delete icon is not displayed for tiered services with session logs, since they cannot be deleted.

Note that deleted tiered services cannot be recovered. Therefore, if you delete a tiered service by mistake, you need to recreate it (refer to Create a tiered service for instructions).

Log out of the app

To log out of the app, select the User Menu, then Logout.
